This is a 'birds eye view' of how the building will look from Oldham Road. The existing Grade II listed Church is on the left and the strong line of trees along the boundary are retained. Click to view a larger image (opens in a new window)

To help visualise how the 'Pavilion in the Park' building will look, back in 2007 the design team led by Mark Hines (the project architect) used the freely available Google 'SketchUp' to allow us to create a 3D model quickly and easily to better understand how the building woulf look - the picture above was produced using it.

It allows you to look at the building from your own perspective. Walk through the rooms, view it from above and get a feel for how it will look. The roof has been left translucent so you can see inside the building. The roof will be a green biodiverse roof, to stop water run off and to help insulate the building. There will also be a large area of solar panels.

We know how difficult it is to visualise something before it is built so we've made a 3D simulation of the building and shown it in the setting of the churchyard.

Download the Sketchup model (requires you to download the software from Google)

Google Sketchup downloadTo view the model you will need the free SketchUp program from Google. Click here to go to the Google Sketchup download site and install the Viewer. Alternatively if you fancy a go at adding different colours to the building, landscaping or materials you can also get the free full version. We hope you have as much fun as we have!

We consulted previously on our earlier designs for the centre, both with our neighbours and users. This has led to changes to the design to make better use of the space and to respect the setting of the churchyard and to improve what is currently an under used local resource.

For instance, the 'footprint' of the building has reduced in size from 700 sq metres to 500 sq metres.
