The need for the project
The initial consultation exercise, involving over 1,200 questionnaires local schools and organisations took place in 2005.
We ran a competition to design our logo...we think its rather fantastic (and hope you agree). Designed by a pupil at Canon Burrows, it symbolises all the community joining together and the 4c's of Christ Church Community Centre.
We commissioned a feasibility study about the building, looking at its location; costs, size and the type of facilities required. Initial designs were shown to the public in September last year at Heritage Day and we have revised these to create a building capable of meeting the needs of many different users and uses.
We have produced a project plan in order to identify what is required in order to make the vision a reality and in time we will look to appoint a project manager.
Tameside Council, Tameside & Glossop PCT and others have worked with us on the range of services we could deliver from the centre.
We have been successful in securing funding from a number of sources towards the project...but we need more to make it a reality! This is part of our planning towards 2010.
